| REHEARSALS Weekly rehearsals are held every Tuesday in the band room at the High Desert Middle School, 61111 SE 27th Street, between 3:45 and 6:00 p.m. An additional optional rehearsal is held on Thursdays between 3:00 and 5:00.
FEES The dues are $45 per quarter ($40 if paid early), scholarships may be available and some exemptions are made based on need. No one is turned away because of inability to pay. EXPERIENCE It is helpful to have had some experience in the past; the majority of our members have not played since high school or college, some 30, 40 or 50 years ago. Most are surprised at how quickly they have regained their skills. Several of our members had never played an instrument at all before joining the band. If you have never played before, you must be willing to take lessons and have a desire to learn. INSTRUMENTS If you do not have your own instrument, one can be rented at any of the local music stores, and usually discounts and attractive rental plans with options to purchase are offered. EXPECTATIONS You should not expect a highly competitive environment. There are no “try outs” and no assigned chairs. You will be welcomed by a group of adults who are sharing their love of music and getting the chance to play in a band setting. If you decide to join us, be prepared to have the time of your life.
