Currently in her 30th year of teaching Sue began her teaching career in 1979 in East Los Angeles. She moved to Bend, Oregon in 1984 and began teaching in the Bend/La Pine School District, with the last 17 years at High Desert Middle School.  She has received superior and excellent ratings at district festivals and over 200 students participate in her music programs each year. She worked as band director at the Northwest Middle School Band camps from 1998 to 2002 and was a guest conductor for the 2005 and 2008 New Horizon Band Camps in Olympia, Washington.

Sue has been principal flutist in the Central Oregon Symphony since 1984.  Each summer for the past 22 years she has had the honor of performing with the Cascade Festival of Music Orchestra. She is a member of Oregon Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference, Oregon Band Directors Association, the Central Oregon Music Educators Association and New Horizon Band Association. As director of the Cascade Horizon Band since its inception in January 2003, Sue has brought the band along from exercises from beginning and intermediate band books to a high school/college band level repertoire. She is well loved by the members of the band and her good humor and ability to bring a band with such a wide range of abilities up to a concert performance level is remarkable!
